BIRTH - 1965
Born in Kolkata, father a student of Rabindranath Tagore at Shantiniketan & mother a lecturer.
DAKSHINEE - 1972
Joined Dakshinee, an acclaimed rabindrasangeet teaching institution to learn classical indian music
LOVE - 1985
Met the love of my life, Bhaskar, in a mini-bus in Kolkata.
Married six months later
FAMILY - 1989
Rik, came into our lives.
AHMEDABAD - 1990
Moved from Kolkata to Ahmedabad.
Joined Krisnakant Parekh, a disciple of Pandit Jasraj and studied and learnt music.
MUMBAI - 1995
Moved to Bombay.
Trained under the tutelage of Prabha Atre.
‘DHIN-TARA’ - 1998
Took the first step as a vocalist by signing up with Times Music.
Released my first indi-pop album ‘Dhin Tara’
'RAAHEIN' - 2001
Second album ‘Raahein’ is released.
The music video was shot in Corsica
GLIMPSE - 2003
Released my first album of remixes, ‘Glimpse’
ELECTRIK - 2004-2005
Started writing as a columnist for The Asian Age and Kolkata Mirror online.
Columns were on relationships and Bengali culture.
Released my album ‘Elecktrik’
KALI THEATRE - 2006
Penned my first words as a poet with Rupa Publications
Released my first book, ‘I Have Seen That Face Before’
Formed my theatre company, Kali Theatre.
We staged our first play, I Have Gone Marking, to house-full halls at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai
Was the first artist to reinvent Rabindrasangeet for the global audiences with ‘Kolkata Jam’
Wrote the script for ‘Sandcastle’.
FLAWLESS - 2007
Penned by 2nd book of poetry, ‘Close Every Door’ with Rupa Publications
Performed my play, ‘Flawless’ at the Kala Ghoda Festival.
SONIC FRAMES - 2008
Released my last album as a singer, ‘Sonic Frames’. Performed my play ‘Sometimes’ in Kolkata to packed houses.
TONIGHT I CAN WRITE - 2009
Released my 3rd book of poems, ‘Seconds Before Sunrise’.
Staged ‘Tonight I Can Write’ with Kali Theatre.
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL - 2011
Selected to perform ‘We Draupadis and Sitas’ at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Released my book my poems, ‘Do Not Stand So Close to Me’.
PLAYS - 2011-2012
Staged Queen Mandodari, Radio Epic and Roti Kapra Makan.
SANDCASTLE - 2012
Production starts on ‘Sandcastle’ – my debut feature film.
PICNIC - 2013
Production starts on ‘Picnic’ – an adaptation of Shesher Kobita.
Sandcastle wins and award for ‘Best Cinematography’ at the Tenerife International Film Festival.
